### GATE Score Formula Percentile Calculation GATE 2014 2015 Score Card Validity

After the evaluation of the answers, the raw marks obtained by a candidate will be converted to a normalized GATE Score.

From 2013 onwards, the GATE score of a candidate is being computed using the formula given below.
The GATE Score of a candidate is computed from:

S= S q + ( S t - S q ) M - Mq M ¯t - Mq
where,
 $S$ = GATE Score (normalized) of a candidate, $M$ = Marks obtained by a candidate in a paper, $Mq$ = Qualifying Marks for general category candidates in the paper, $M$  ¯t = Average Marks of top 0.1% or 10 of the candidates (whichever is higher) who appeared in the paper, $St$ = GATE Score assigned to $M$  ¯t, $Sq$ = GATE Score assigned to $Mq$
$Mq$
is usually 25 marks (out of 100) or
$\mu$
+ σ, whichever is larger. Here
$\mu$
is the mean and
$\sigma$
is the standard deviation of marks of all the candidates who appeared in that paper.
After the declaration of the results, a GATE Scorecard will be issued to all the candidates appeared in a paper whose marks are equal to or above the qualifying marks of SC/ST/PD candidates in that paper. There is no provision for the issue of Additional GATE scorecard
The GATE 2014 Committee has the authority to decide the qualifying mark/score for each GATE paper. In case any claim or dispute arises in respect of GATE 2014, it is hereby made absolutely clear that the Courts and Tribunals in Kolkata and Kolkata alone shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to entertain and settle any such dispute or claim.
